If you admire the bodies of athletes, remember rule number one of physical movement: Form follows function. Your body is incredibly efficient at adapting to whatever you throw at it. Lifting heavy will increase bone and muscle mass. Running ultra-long distances will shed excess weight because the excess weight would otherwise slow you down. Likewise, eating real food will amplify the normal biologic processes in your gut, whereas sitting on the couch will slow your body down and tell it that it’s time to conserve energy and slow down metabolism.
